Overview

Chinese Checkers is a strategy board game played on a star-shaped board. The goal is to move all your pieces from your home triangle to the opposite triangle before your opponent. Pieces can step to adjacent empty spaces or jump over other pieces in chain jumps.

How to Play

  1. Click one of your pieces (white marbles) to select it.
  2. Click an empty destination to move there.
  3. Pieces can step one space to any adjacent empty hex.
  4. Pieces can jump over an adjacent piece to land on the empty space beyond — chain multiple jumps in one turn!
  5. The AI moves its pieces (dark marbles) automatically.
  6. First to fill the opposite triangle wins.

Rules

  • On your turn, move one piece.
  • A piece can step to one adjacent empty space, OR make one or more jumps.
  • Jumps go over any single adjacent piece (yours or the AI's) to the empty space directly beyond.
  • Multiple jumps can be chained in a single turn.
  • You cannot jump over empty spaces or two pieces in a row.
  • The game ends when all pieces of one player reach the opposite triangle.

Strategy Tips

  • Build a ladder: Position pieces so they create jumping paths across the board.
  • Chain jumps are key: One long chain jump can cross half the board in a single turn.
  • Don't leave stragglers: Keep your pieces moving together rather than rushing one ahead.
  • Use the center: The center of the board enables the longest jump chains.
  • Block the opponent: Position pieces to break the AI's jump paths when possible.

Difficulty Levels

  • Easy: AI makes suboptimal moves with random variation.
  • Medium: AI seeks efficient paths toward its goal triangle.
  • Hard: AI plays near-optimally, building jump chains.
